EN1A Bright

EN1A Bright Bars are low carbon free-cutting steel bars, specially formulated for excellent machinability. They are cold drawn or cold rolled to achieve a bright, smooth surface finish and tight dimensional tolerances. EN1A is commonly used for high-speed machining applications such as screws, nuts, bolts, studs, pins, and precision turned components, particularly in mass production on automatic and CNC machines.
Due to the addition of sulphur (and sometimes lead in EN1A(L)), these bars exhibit superior machinability, producing fine chips and reducing tool wear. However, EN1A is not suitable for welding or case hardening due to its sulphur content.
Key Features
- Free-Cutting Steel (Lead or Sulphur Added) Specially alloyed to enhance machinability, making it perfect for automatic lathe operations.
- Excellent Machinability Offers clean cuts, less tool wear, and high-speed machining capabilities.
- Bright Surface Finish Cold drawn or rolled surface for improved aesthetics and performance.
- Dimensional Accuracy Tight tolerances and consistent straightness for use in precision components.
- Low Carbon Content Provides good ductility, though not suitable for high-strength or heat treatment applications.
- Available as EN1A and EN1A(L) EN1A(L) is leaded for even better machinability where lead addition is acceptable.
- Cost-Effective for Mass Production Ideal for components manufactured in large volumes on CNC and multi-spindle machines.
